Creative Pathways (April)

Do you want to be in the driver’s seat but also have guidance and support to help you along your artistic journey? Creative Pathways combines an open studio experience with an instructor who leads constructive, structured critiques that include group discussions, one-to-one instruction, and optional exercises to push you to the next level.

These classes are perfect for those who want to choose what to create while benefiting from feedback, inspiration, or the vitality achieved when working with other creative individuals. You choose your subject and your own 2D art medium.

Lisa Larrabee is most recognized for her unique figurative paintings that stylistically blur the boundaries between the figure and their environment. Her paintings visually convey the intangible connection between people, nature and the subconscious. Lisa creates artwork that allows us to slow down and contemplate our relationship to others and to the world around us.

The instructor will guide you in finding your visual voice to achieve your artistic vision and cultivate your creativity. Optional exercises are designed to strengthen your skills and open new pathways to explore in your work. Where you go with them is up to you. It is all part of the journey.

Lisa builds an expressive and textured surface using oil and cold wax medium with improvised tools, rollers and pallet knives before refining her image with traditional oil painting methods.

The effect feels both timeless and contemporary. Specific details come into focus while others are left to be completed in the mind of the viewer. As you can see below, the result is ethereal poetry.
