1) Pencil and/or pen

2) Mixed media or watercolor paper, either in the form of a sketchbook or loose sheets.

  • Or Moleskine Watercolor
  • Or any Stillman & Birn

Example watercolor paper:
  • 100% cotton such as Arches, Fabriano
  • Student grade paper such as Strathmore 400, Canson Montval

5) Watercolor Kit (Bring what you have. If you don't have anything...)

RECOMMENDATIONS:
  • Winsor Newton Cotman Pocket Box (best student-grade paints available,
  • nice compact size for travel, inexpensive, a good palette of colors)
  • One or more watercolor brushes, round size 8, 10, or 12 range
  • Small water sprayer
  • 1-2 plastic cups for water
  • Paper towels

6) Other

  • Old toothbrush and/or bristle brush (stencil or oil painters)
  • Small sprayer with isopropyl alcohol
  • Sponge pieces (natural and/or man-made)
  • Facial tissue
  • Straw
  • Rubber stamps (optional)
  • Piece of cotton lace and/or nylon mesh (optional)
